THE CRYSTAL QUEEN: ANNA WINTOUR’S INSPIRING STORY

Born in London in 1949, Anna Wintour has long since become one of the most influential figures in the fashion world. Since 1998, she is the editor-in-chief of American Vogue. In 2013, she became artistic director of Conde Nast, Vogue’s publisher.

Through her distinguished journalistic career, she is regarded as a trend-setter and a patron of young designers. In 2005, her salary was reportedly $2 million a year, though no updated figure is known. She also enjoys a chauffeured Mercedes S-Class and a $200,000 shopping allowance per year. Wintour’s domineering personality was immortalized in the hugely successful 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada, based on a former personal assistant’s book by the same name.

Wintour’s taste in jewelry is distinct and recognizable: at red carpet events, she is pictured wearing the same items time and time again, including strings of colored crystal necklaces. The chunky crystal necklaces, of which she often wears three or four, have become a Wintour wardrobe staple.
