IRAN AND CHINA MAY COOPERATE IN JEWELRY TRADE

Iran’s Gold, Jewelry, Silver and Precious Stones Producers and Exporters Association and a Chinese trade delegation have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation, according to a report on Rough-Polished.

“China possesses good mines and massive gold reserves. It was agreed during the session that China will collaborate with Iran on importing machines available for cutting precious stones and certain actions will be taken in the short run,” explains Chairman of Gold, Jewelry, Silver and Precious Stones Producers and Exporters Association, Abdollah Mohammadvali.

Mohammadvali, who stresses that jewelry production could create great job opportunities, says that investment in establishing joint gold factories in the two countries is another area of discussion. While Iran has no diamond reserves it enjoys a thriving jewelry market, notes Rough-Polished.
