ANGOLA’S DIAMOND PRODUCTION AND SALES RISE IN JUNE

Recently released Angola ministry of geology and mines figures showed that the country produced and marketed more than 760,000 carats of diamonds valued at approximately $80 million in June, according to a report on macuahub.com.

The ministry said that production increased 2.28%, thought to be due to raised production at the Catoca mine and sales showed a 5.35% increase over May. Production at Catoca accounted for 82 percent of the volume by carats and 56% by sales value. Angola’s diamonds sold for an average of $150 per carat.
