A 214.65-carat rough diamond

ALROSA NAMES 214.65-CARAT NYURBINSKOYE DIAMOND AFTER FAMOUS CHOREOGRAPHER

Alrosa has announced that the large diamond retrieved on the Nyurbinskoye diamond placer earlier this month will bear the name of choreographer Boris Eifman, Rough & Polished reports.

 

This decision was made in commemoration of the 70-year anniversary of the Russian, who in 1977 established the Leningrad Ballet Ensemble.The Boris Eifman Diamond measures 42.11 by 34.26 by 16.07 mm, and is translucent with a grey hue.

 

The Nyurbinskaya placer deposit is localized in the immediate vicinity of the Nyurbinskaya pipe primary deposit, which is a source of diamonds. Sands from the deposit are processed in summer.
