GEMFIELDS’ PROFIT SOARS 91% TO $23.5 MILLION FOR FY 2016

Gemfields has released it audited results, reporting revenue of $193.1 million for the year ended June 30, 2016 – up 12.7% from the $171.4 year-on-year. Profit for the year was $23.5 million – up 91.1% from the $12.3 million year-on-year, Gem Konnect reports.

 

Production of rough emerald and beryl was 30 million carats, roughly the same as the 30.1 million carats the previous year. Revenue from emerald and beryl sales was $101.2 million, with record $70.68 per carat price achieved at a higher quality auction.

 

Production of rough ruby and corundum was 10.3 million carats, compared to 8.4 million carats year-on-year. Revenue from ruby and corundum was $73.1 million, with an average price of $45.50 per carat.
