IDI CHAIRMAN MOURNS LOSS OF FORMER PM AND PRESIDENT SHIMON PERES

Shimon Peres, who served twice as Israel’s prime minister and once as president, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994, died last night (Tuesday). He was 93. Shmuel Schnitzer, Chairman of The Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI), mourned the passing of Peres and said: “Together with all Israelis, we mourn the loss of Shimon Peres. Peres successfully bridged political strife and as president he was deeply loved both in Israel and abroad”.

“He worked diligently for peace, never forgetting to promote and strengthen the security of his beloved country. During his long years as a public figure, as prime minister and in his other capacities, Peres was always sympathetic to the diamond industry. He always showed up to functions, and was optimistic and original in his approach”.

Schnitzer concluded: “Personally, Peres was a close friend of my father, Moshe Schnitzer, may he rest in peace. I liked and greatly esteemed the man, he was one of a kind in the political landscape. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family. May he rest in peace”.
