GAHCHO KUE TO SELL ITS FIRST DIAMOND BATCH IN JANUARY 2017

Canada has another winner: The Gahcho Kue mine, in Canada’s Northwest Territories, has produced 198,000 carats since it began production on August 1, 2016, according to Gem Konnect.

Mountain Province , which has a 49% stake in the mine, has stated that the first sale of the company’s share of the production will take place on open tender in Antwerp in January 2017, and about every five weeks thereafter.

According to Mountain Province president and CEO Patrick Evans, “the 50-carat diamond recovered in September is the largest diamond recovered to date and provides further confirmation that Gahcho Kue has a population of large, high-quality gem diamonds. It is also exciting to see a population of good size fancy yellow diamonds, which offers encouragement that we’ll see further fancy diamonds as the production ramps up”.
