LUCAPA UNCOVERS ANOTHER MASSIVE DIAMOND AT LULO

Lucapa Diamond Company, owner and operator of the Lulo diamond project in Angola, has announced the recovery of a 62-carat diamond from a new alluvial mining area at Lulo – Mining Block 25.

After testing, the miner confirmed that the stone is a “premium-quality Type IIa gem”. According to Lucapa, the stone provides “further evidence of the potential for the entire 50 kilometer stretch of the Cacuilo River within the Lulo concession to host large and high-value diamonds”.

This is the second large diamond recovered from a new mining area at Lulo in a month. In mid-February, Lucapa unearthed a 227 carat Type IIa D-colour gem from new Mining Block 28. The massive stone was unearthed a year after the unearthing of massive 404 carat stone at Lulo. According to the company, this was the seventh +100 carat diamond recovered to date from Lulo.

The 227-carat diamond is scheduled to be sold early next month, while the 62-carat stone will be offered in the company’s following sale.
