DE BEERS RAKES IN $545 MILLION FROM SECOND SALES CYCLE

De Beers has reported the provisional value of rough diamond sales for the second sales cycle of 2017.

In Cycle 2, De Beers earned $545 million – 25% less than the $729 million it earned in Cycle 1. Year-on-year, Cycle 2 of 2017 is about 12% lower than Cycle 2 of 2016, which raked in $617 million.

CEO Bruce Cleaver commented: “We continued to see good demand across our product range in the second sales cycle, which was in line with expectations at this time of year. Sentiment remains positive heading into the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show this week – an important barometer of trade confidence”.
