Alrosa CEO Andrey Zharkov

REPORT: RUSSIA’S DEPUTY PM CONFIRMS THAT ALROSA PRESIDENT ZHARKOV WILL BE REPLACED BY SERGEY IVANOV

Following reports in February that Alrosa’s President Andrey Zharkov will step down as the Russian miner’s President, IDEX Online is now quoting a report in TASS news agency that Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev has confirmed that Zharkov will be replaced by Sergey Ivanov. Ivanov is currently the Senior Vice President of Sberbank.

Trutnev made the comments to TASS during the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi on Monday (February 28). Trutnev said that Zharkov “had submitted a resignation letter and the decision on his replacement will be made at Alrosa’s next supervisory board meeting to be chaired by Russia’s Finance Minister Anton Siluanov”.

Last week, it was reported by sources of Interfax that Zharkov had “disagreements with officials from the Finance Ministry”, headed by Anton Silualov, who is also the head of the Supervisory Board of Alrosa.
