Diamond miner Lucapa has reported results for the second sale for 2017 from its Lulo Diamond Project in Angola. In the sale, Lucapa sold 1,552 carats of Lulo diamonds for a total of $6.9 million.

This represents an average price per carat of $4,446 which, according to the company, underlines “the quality of the diamond recoveries and the continued strength in the market for large and high-quality production”. So far in 2017, Lucapa has raked in $10.7 million from Lulo diamonds.

Lucapa also noted that the parcel included the 227-carat Type IIa D color stone found last month, and that the next sale will include diamonds weighing 62 carats, 65 carats and 25 carats.

Lucapa found two large exceptional diamonds at Lulo in February of this year: In mid-February, Lucapa unearthed a 227 carat Type IIa D-colour gem from new Mining Block 28, and around February 25, it announced the recovery of a 62-carat diamond from new alluvial mining area at Lulo - Mining Block 25.
