Banks: Banking hours vary from bank to bank. It is advisable to call one of the banks that operate inside the Diamond Exchange complex and ask about a specific branch.

Currency: New Israeli Shekels (Sheqalim) and Agorot (hundredths of a Shekel).

Diamond District: Ramat Gan, Israel’s diamond district is only 20 minutes from the Ben Gurion International Airport and just a 10-minute drive from Tel-Aviv's Mediterranean shore.

Electrical Current: 220v l 50 Cycles

Food: You'll find every imaginable type of cuisine in Israel: Everything from Thai cooking to Hungarian goulash, and from sushi to gefilte fish.

Telephones: All public phones operate by phone cards. These can be purchased at hotels, post offices, and most kiosks.

Touring: Israel is the home of the world’s three great monotheistic religions and an archaeological and historical treasure trove. A trip to Israel is not complete without a visit to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Tiberias, Caesarea, Eilat and the Dead Sea.

TV: Most hotels have cable TV, with all major international channels (CNN, NBC, Sky, etc.).

Weather: Israel enjoys a mild climate all year round. Tel Aviv is a typical Mediterranean city. Summers (May-November) are warm (24-30 c) and humid. Winters (December-April) are mild (8-20 c) and occasionally rainy. For more on Israeli weather.
