The Light of Memory
An Asian private buyer who acquired a fancy vivid pink pear-shaped diamond of 9.14 carats at Christie’s Geneva this week has named the stone “The Light of Memory”, according to several news sources.

Christie’s opened the auction season last week with 167 lots that sold for $97 million, beating its pre-auction estimate of $80 million. The top lot - a fancy vivid pink pear-shaped diamond of 9.14 carats - achieved the second highest price for a pink pear-shaped diamond sold at auction at $18,174,631 ($2,000,000 per carat).

Across the street, Sotheby’s sold the 8.01-carat "Sky Blue" diamond in a Cartier setting  for $17.1 million - almost two million over the lowest estimate of $15.25 million. According to several news sources, total sales in the auction exceeded the $100 million mark.
