HKJMA DELEGATION OF YOUNG MANUFACTURERS TO ATTEND IDWI IN FEBRUARY

The Hong Kong Jewellery Manufacturers’ Association (HKJMA) is sending a special delegation of young manufacturers to the sixth International Diamond Week in Israel (IDWI), which will be held February (13-16).

According to a press release by the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE), “the delegation will sign an MOU with representatives of the younger generation of the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) to ensure future trade ties and cooperation between the two bodies”. The HKJMA delegation will be led by HKJMA Chairman Adam Lau, and include Deputy Chairman Peter Lam, Executive Joe Lee, Head of the Youth Committee Kevin Ng, as well as a number of younger manufacturers.

IDE President Yoram Dvash said: “Hong Kong’s jewelry manufacturing industry is highly valued throughout the world. We enjoy outstanding relations with HKJMA and we are thrilled that they are bringing a delegation to our international event. With the signing of the MOU we will promote the continuity of the excellent ties between our organizations”.

HKJMA Chairman Dr. Adam Lau said, “Hong Kong jewelry is a traditional industry renowned for its craftsmanship, high quality and design. The young generation joining this industry can bring new ideas for the industry. As e- business, product definition and tailor-made jewelry are becoming more and more popular, the young generation can bring creativity to further development in these areas. They are more familiar with online business and they can give more Inspiration in e-marketing as well. I’m looking forward to the signing of the MOU between the younger generations of both of our industries. I hope it will foster stronger bonds between the two parties.”

The IDE expects that the upcoming IDW will exceed previous attendance records by several hundreds. Haim Volner, Chairman of the IDWI Organizing Committee, said that buyers have registered from over 20 countries, including the US, UK, Germany, China and India. “Most of those registered have come through social media, where we have conducted a very active campaign. A high percentage are repeat attendees, but we are seeing a great deal of new buyers, which is very encouraging”, he said.

The IDE will officially open a new International Tender Center on February 14, 2017 during IDWI. IDWI will host three important tenders of polished and rough diamonds by Alrosa, I. Hennig and Koin. The visit of Alrosa President Andrey Zharkov, who will be a guest of honor at IDWI, is timed to coincide with the opening of the tender center.
