ISRAEL: JEWELRY EXPORTS UP 3% IN H1 2016

According to the latest figures announced today (September 28) by the Ministry of Economy in Israel, Israeli exports were down 9% to approximately $4 billion in the first six months of 2016. During that period, jewelry exports surged 3%, totaling $340 million.

During said period, Israeli exports were characterised by a sharp increase in the international trade of service, and a continued decrease in the exports of goods. The service sector grew 13% in the first half of the year, largely due to the expansion of the high-tech industry (which comprises 50% of the service sector today).

Shipment of goods, however, continued to fall, and decreased by 5.7%, totaling $28 billion. Exports of goods excepting diamonds decreased by 5.2%m totaling $24 billion.
