FIRESTONE RECOVERS HUGE 110-CARAT YELLOW DIAMOND FROM LIQHOBONG

Firestone Diamonds has recovered a 110-carat diamond from its Liqhobong mine in Lesotho, Mining Weekly reports. The stone is a gem-quality light yellow diamond – its largest diamond recovered to date.

Firestone CEO Stuart Brown said in a statement that “the 110 ct gem-quality light yellow diamond recovered . . . confirms our long held belief that Liqhobong has large stone potential and I hope this is the first of many to come”.

According to the report, “Liqhobong is expected to reach commercial production at the end of June”. In the first two sales from the mine, held in February and March of this year, Firestone raked in “$13.7-million from the sale of 127,590 carats at an average price of $107/carat”.
