The diamonds are all “extremely rare”, according to Merlin. The largest green diamond recovered weighs 1.4-carats, and another diamond weighs 0.21-carats.The company also said that “more green diamonds have been recovered from the ongoing mining operations at Merlin and are being validated by independent experts”.

“The recovery of these green diamonds is highly encouraging and follows Merlin Diamonds’ previous discovery of a rare blue diamond in December 2016, demonstrating the mine’s potential for producing valuable colored diamonds”, the company said.
