BaselWorld 2015

BASELWORLD SHORTENED BY TWO DAYS OVER INDUSTRY’S “CHALLENGING PERIOD”

The Baselworld exhibition next year will be two days shorter “after fewer buyers and exhibitors attended this year’s show”, according to a report in Rough & Polished.
Attendance in this year’s Baselworld, which ended March 30, was down 4% year-on-year to a total of 16,000 buyers. The numbers of exhibitors fell 13% to 1,300, according to a report in National Jeweler.

As a consequence, the organizers said they were “responding to exhibitor feedback by limiting the show to six days next year instead of the traditional eight”. Baselworld 2018 will run from March 22 to 27.

Sylvie Ritter, managing director of Baselworld said: “We have decided to reduce the duration of the show and adjust the prices accordingly. She added that the “industry is enduring a challenging period, with smaller companies experiencing the biggest impact of the downturn”.
