Andalusite

Andalusite is a mineral whose color varies from reddish-pink, to brown, yellow and green, which is used by the jewelry industry as a gem.

Andalusite is usually cut in a way that enhances its natural color variation and has a Mohs scale of hardness of 7.5.

Andalusites were first discovered in 1789 in the Andalusia region of Spain – hence the name. Andalusites are relatively inexpensive gems, usually used in men’s jewelry.

Andalusite is a common aluminosilicate mineral which can be found in the United States, Germany, Austria and Australia. Andalusites can also be found in southern Israel, near Eilat, as well as in the Sinai Peninsula.
