Marquise cut

Marquise Cut

The marquise cut is one of the special fantasy polished diamond cuts.

The marquise is manufactured from capas gems, or long diamonds, which are inappropriate for cutting into round shapes. The marquise is shaped liked a boat, and that’s why it is called ‘navett’ in French. However, when it came into favor among aristocratic women, it earned its current name, the marquise.

The crown and the pavilion of the marquise are cut in a brilliant cut. Large marquise diamonds are treated like solitaires diamonds (lone diamonds) and small marquise diamonds are generally mounted in multiple settings.
