Sterling Jewelers Inc., an American jewelry company headquartered in Akron, Ohio, was founded in 1910 by Henry Shaw. Today, it is part of the Signet Group, the largest specialty jewelry retailer in the US, UK and Canada, which acquired the Akron jeweler in 1987.
Sterling Jewelers is the best-selling fine jewelry company in the US, and has more stores than any other American brand - 1,504 stores spread through 50 states. It is home to nine brands of fine jewelry stores: J.B. Robinson Jewelers (which has almost 100 stores in the US); Belden Jewelers; LeRoy's Jewelers; Rogers Jewelers; Shaw's Jewelers; Osterman Jewelers; Goodman Jewelers; Weisfield Jewelers; and Marks & Morgan Jewelers.
According to vault.com, Sterling Jewelers generated 65.6% of Signet’s $5.7 billion in sales during the fiscal year 2015. About 62% of the company's sales came from its Kay branded stores in 2015.
