BAFTA GLIMMER: THE SHINNING DIAMONDS ON THE RED CARPET
The 71st British Academy Film Awards (the BAFTAs), which were held on February 18 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, were marked by dark gowns as attendees came out in support of the Time’s Up Movement. The diamonds they wore, however, were anything but dull.
Margot Robbie, nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for I, Tonya, wore a black Givenchy couture gown complemented by a pair of sparkling Winston Cluster earrings and matching ring. Rachel Weisz and Lily James also wore Harry Winston as both opted for cascading chandelier earrings. Lily James added two Cluster bracelets, and Weisz added a flawless Lotus ring.
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, wore a pair of cushion-cut emerald earrings with a matching bracelet and a drop necklace featuring emerald stones.
Sally Hawkins, nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in The Shape of Water, wore a pair of David Morris Three Row Illusion chandelier earrings. Saoirse Ronan, nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Lady Bird, complemented her Chanel gown with a pair of drop earrings by Cartier, set with diamonds and finished with a smooth emerald.
Angelina Jolie was stunning as always in shoulder-skimming pear-shaped earrings by Graff, total weight of 32.98 carats. She also wore a Bombé cocktail ring featuring 89 scintillating diamonds.
Greta Gerwig, who was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for Lady Bird, wore a Jonathan Cohen gown with Tiffany’s bracelets and rings.
French actress Isabelle Huppert was elegant as always with Chopard diamonds. Actress Allison Janney, who took home the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in I, Tonya, wore a Bibu Mohapatra gown, complemented by diamond ear cuffs.
