DIAMOND HIGHLIGHTS AT THE HONG KONG JEWELLERY & GEM FAIR

This year’s September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair is scheduled from 16 to 20 September 2015 at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) and from 18 to 22 September 2015 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The Fair will again feature the world’s largest Diamond Pavilion, Asia’s biggest Gemstone marketplace and the biggest display of Hong Kong jewelry in the world.

According to the statistics from last year’s show, diamond jewelry leads the statistics ranking for the ‘top products’ at the show followed by loose diamonds and colored gemstone jewelry. More than half of the show visitors come from China and Hong Kong, and most of the visitors described themselves as retailers or manufacturers and suppliers.

“We expect to welcome around 60,000 visitors from all over the world throughout the fair’s seven-day run. New attractions at the Fair include exhibitors from Latvia, Myanmar and Qatar. In addition, the September Fair will also debut the Bridal Jewellery Pavilion,” says Sunny Chan, Deputy Fair Manager, Jewellery Fairs, UBM Asia. The Israel Diamond Pavilion, which will feature 98 companies in addition to 20 Israeli companies exhibiting locations throughout the show, will be located in Hall 7, 9 and 11 of the Asia World Expo. A special lounge area for buyers will be located at the heart of the pavilion. The IDI Lounge will feature three Find Your Diamond terminals and will serve refreshments throughout the day.

Alrosa Diamond Auction

Alrosa, Russia’s leading diamond company and the world’s biggest diamond miner by volume, will continue to host its diamond auction at the September Fair at the Asia World Expo. The Diamond Auction will be held from 16 to 20 September and admission is by invitation only.

Gemological Institute of America Research Update

Tom Moses, Executive Vice President, Chief Laboratory & Research Officer at the Gemological Institute of America will be leading a session as part of the GIA GemFest Asia 2015 called ‘GIA Research Update’. The session will be held on the 19 September 2015 at 9:00am – 10:30am in Meeting Room S421 at the HKCEC.

Tom Moses, Executive Vice President, Chief Laboratory & Research Officer at the Gemological Institute of America will be leading a session as part of the GIA GemFest Asia 2015 called ‘GIA Research Update’. The session will be held on the 19 September 2015 at 9:00am – 10:30am in Meeting Room S421 at the HKCEC.

Perspective on the Global Diamond Industry

As part of the Asian Gemmological Institute and Laboratory Limited (AGIL)’s 2015 International Gemmological Conference, China Official Focal Point (2004-2015) of the Kimberley Process Liang Weizhang, will be leading an English language session called ‘Perspective on the Global Diamond Industry’. The session will be held on the 19 September 2015 between 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Meeting Rooms S226 – S227 at the HKCEC. This event is by invitation only.

Automated Spectral Diamond Inspection

A Seminar organized by The Gemmological Association of Hong Kong (GAHK) and UBM Asia Ltd will feature Dr. Michael S Krzemnicki, Director of the Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF, covering the topic: ‘Automated Spectral Diamond Inspection: A solution for the industry to analyse and authenticate colourless melee diamonds at high speed’. This session will take place on September 19th at 2:30pm – 5:00pm in Meeting Rooms S224 – S225 at the HKCEC.

Reception and JNA Awards

This year the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) will again be sponsoring the show’s opening reception. The invitation only Fair Reception will be held on 16 September at 6:30pm – 8:00pm at the Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel. In addition IDI is again an Honoured Partner of the JNA Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony and gala dinner at the Regal Airport Hotel in Hong Kong on September 20th.
