INDIA: A DIAMOND MOGUL GIVES EMPLOYEES CARS, HOUSES AND JEWELRY FOR DIWALI

Savjibhai Dholakia, who owns a diamond polishing factory in Surat, India, and exports diamonds to dozens of countries in the world, hits the news again: since 2012, in every Diawli, Dholakia has been making headlines by giving expensive gifts to his employees. But this Diwali, Dholakia has even out-gifted himself: according to several news sources, the diamond tycoon gave 1,260 cars, 400 flats and pieces of jewelry ahead of Diawli.

Of the 5,500 employees in the company, 1,716 were named as the company’s best performers and been given bonuses totaling $7 million.

Dholakia, owner of Hare Krishna Exports, told Agence France-Presse: “Our aim is that each employee must have his own home and car in the next five years. So we have decided to gift cars, homes and jewellery to employees”.

In 2014, Dholakia gave his employees 491 cars and 207 flats.
