INDIA: EXPORTS OF POLISHED DIAMONDS DOWN IN APRIL

According to data published by India’s Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), exports of polished diamonds were down 1.76% year-on-year, totaling $1,749.10 million.

 

Gross exports for all gems and jewellery totaled $3,730.32 million – an increase of 15.17% year-on-year. Gross imports for the gems & jewellery sector totaled $3,160.32 million – up 6.99% year-on-year.

 

Gross imports of rough diamonds for April totaled $1,742.30 million – a decline of 7.38% year-on-year. In volume terms, gross import of rough diamonds totaled 16.92 million carats in April – a rise of 9.86% year-on-year. Gross exports of gold jewellery totaled $497.35 million – a decline of 32.36% year-on-year. Gross exports of silver jewellery reached $768.92 million – up 156.57% year-on-year.
