INDIA: POLISHED EXPORTS GET A BOOST IN JULY 2018

Numbers released by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and quoted by Rough & Polished show that India’s polished diamond exports rose 11.67% year-on-year to $1.84 billion in July.

 

Rough imports rose 25.54% in value to $1.67 billion, but declined in volume to 13.02 million carats, compared to 13.69 million carats during July 2017. Imports of cut and polished diamonds were down 41.59% to $133.22 million in July 2018.

 

Polished diamond exports during April-July 2018 were up 9.51% to $8.13 billion compared to the same period last year. Imports of polished diamonds fell by 45.65% to $481.77 million during the same period. During the fiscal year to date, imports of rough diamonds fell 6.8% to $6.26 billion.
