VASANT MEHTA STEPS DOWN AS IIGJ CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

Vasant Mehta has stepped down from his role as chairman of the board of the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewelry (IIGJ), IDEX Online reports.

 

Mehta served eight years as the IIGJ’s chairman, and spent a total of 16 years in running the government-sponsored institute.

 

He will be succeeded by Kirit Bhansali, a board member of the Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJPEC) and Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). Bhansali is currently senior partner of Skygems and Smital Gems.

 

Anil Virani, founder of Karp Group and Ashok Gajera of Laxmi Diamond, both prominent diamantaires and members of the GJEPC board have also joined the IIGJ board. Namita Padya, convenor of the IIGJ’s Tardeo Branch was elected as an institute director.
