HILLARY CLINTON, DIAMOND-STUDDED PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL

The IDI entry for Hillary Rodham Clinton may have to be revised in two and a half years, if, as expected, she becomes the Democratic nominee for U.S. President in 2016 and perhaps even wins the election. But even now, her resume is very impressive: besides being the FLOTUS (First Lady of the United States) when her husband Bill Clinton sat in office, she then served as a U.S. Senator for the State of New York for eight years, followed by a stint as America’s 67th Secretary of State during Barack Obama’s first term. Rodham Clinton also worked as an influential lawyer for many years.

At her husband’s presidential inauguration in 1993 (and again in 1997), Rodham Clinton became the first person to publicly wear the raw 4.25-carat Kahn Canary ring, as a sign of respect to their home turf of Arkansas, as the stone was extracted at the state’s Crater of Diamonds State Park. In 2012, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah gifted Rodham Clinton with half a million dollars worth of diamond-and-ruby-crusted jewels, including a necklace, bracelet, earrings and a ring.
