Following the arrest of ISIS terror suspects from Saurashtra, the Mahidharpura diamond market in Surat will be guarded by a Quick Response Team (QRT) of the city police, Rough & Polished reports.
According to the report, the demand for security came from representatives of the diamond industry in a meeting held with city police commissioner Satish Sharma.
Sharma said: “As the demand for security to the diamond market at Mahidharpura was an important, we took the decision to post a QRT there. The QRT will be stationed at Mahidharpura police chowki in diamond market”.
Among other weaponry, the QRT will have machine guns to combat armed attack, and they will be wearing bulletproof jackets.
