A fire broke out in the processing plant at the Ekati diamond mine, according to a press release from Dominion Diamond Corporation. The fire, which occurred during a planned outage on June 23rd, was contained and no injuries were reported.
“Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our workforce and of all the people involved in responding to this incident,” says a statement from Dominion Diamond Corporation, which operates the Ekati diamond mine and also owns 40% of the Diavik diamond mine.
