Russian mining giant Alrosa has announced its sales of rough and polished diamonds in January 2022. Sales totaled $325 million, including $315 million of rough diamond sales and $10 million of polished diamonds.

Evgeny Agureev, Deputy CEO of Alrosa, commented: “January saw continuing strong demand for diamonds from midstream companies seeking to stock up after a successful holiday season sales across all the key markets […]”.

In other Alrosa news, the miner has recently announced that it will allow buyers to purchase much-needed rough sooner “by shifting booked volumes to an earlier date,” IDEX Online reports. In order to facilitate ongoing supply, Alrosa promised to hold an additional tender between trading sessions and to buy more stock from the state’s Gokhran repository.
