In its recent emerald auction, held in Dubai earlier this month, emerald producer Grizzly Mining raked in a record-breaking $48.63 million.
The auction featured a selection of mid- to high-grade rough emeralds extracted from the flagship Grizzly emerald mine in Zambia, according to Mining Weekly. A total of 106 emerald lots were presented to 128 customers, and all of the offered lots were successfully sold.
Grizzly chairperson Abdoulaye Ndiaye said that the market for emeralds “remains extremely strong and continues to grow in size each year”, adding: “Grizzly has been championing Zambian emeralds for over 25 years, and I am pleased to report another successful emerald auction which has seen new records broken.”
