India’s Polished Exports Reach Lowest Point of the Year in November

Figures released by India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and quoted by IDEX Online shows that India’s polished diamond exports dropped to their lowest point this year during November, totaling $1.25 billion.

Since peaking in March, polished exports have “mostly been declining […] although there was a notable bounce in September.” According to the same report, “sales in November were down just over 4% year-on-year, but by almost 34% compared with October $1.89 billion.” Exports of all gems and jewelry “rose by just over 2% in November” to $2.43 billion.

From April to November, rough imports grew slightly to $11.68 billion – an average of $1.46 billion per month. Sales of polished lab-grown diamonds grew by almost 50% during this period.
