NEW DIAMOND LASER CUTTING ROOM LAUNCHED AT IDE

A Ceremony for affixing the mezuzah at the new diamond laser cutting room, aka the Synova room, was held last Thursday (January 19) at the Shimshon Building at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE). The ceremony was attended by IDE President Yoram Dvash, Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA) President Kobi Korn, IDE Managing Director Eli Avidar and many bourse members. Meir Anabi, a bourse member and one of the people who helped to invest and set up the diamond laser cutting room, also attended.

Dvash congratulated the guests and said: “I want to thank our good friends – the Anabi family, the Nimdar family, Nir Sela and Offir Eliyahu – for investing in this initiative and making this possible. The bourse supported and helped to set the diamond laser cutting room in an excellent location, but it was established by these people for the benefit of the diamond industry”. Dvash spoke about the Synova diamond laser cutting machine and its accuracy, and told the guests that he held a meeting with The Marker’s Editor in Chief Sami Peretz earlier in the week, and gave him a tour of the bourse and the new Synova room. “This is the bourse we want to see”, added Dvash, “a more technological, energetic bourse”.

Dvash added: “We’re about to get authorization for a 400 sq. meter diamond cutting factory next to the Synova room. In less than a month, Alrosa’s President Andrei Zharkov will arrive at the International Diamond Week and together we’ll open the new International Tender Center. Zharkov will bring large, unique stones with him, as well as the crown of Catherine the Great, which will be displayed throughout the week”.

Dvash noted that in the coming months, a new Internet Center will open for the benefit of bourse members at the Maccabi building, saying: “We want to be constantly adding and innovating. We’re taking different steps in different directions, and hopefully we’ll see the bourse getting back to its glory days soon. We’re getting early indications that 2017 will be a better year than 2016. There is increase in trading in China and the US. President Donald Trump is a businessman, and we believe he’ll bring the business world to the right track”.

Korn said: “Every new factory and the introduction of any technological innovation are greatly appreciated and supported. Our current policy, since we’re focusing mainly on large stones, is to establish factories near the bourse in order to cut costs. Lilke IDE President Dvash said, we’re about to establish a factory at the Maccabi building for large and unique stones. We’ll make every effort to support and promote the manufacturing industry in the bourse”.

Meir Anabi, a bourse member and one of the people who helped to invest and set up the Synova room, said: “The word technology comes from two Greek words, techne (art, skill) and logos (word). Synova represents the height of technology; moreover, it will help diamantaires to maximize the value of their stones while minimizing risks, like President Dvash said. Synova will revolutionize the industry. My friends and I decided to come together to invest and bring Synova to the bourse – a tech worthy of the Israeli diamond industry. This wouldn’t have been possible without the massive support of IDE President Dvash, IDE Managing Director Eli Avidar, IsDMA General Manager Ofer Laufman, IDE VP Israel Venchowsky and others. We thank you all very much”.
