A pair of earrings adorned with remarkably large Fancy Vivid orange-yellow diamonds, weighing 12.20 carats and 11.96 carats, are expected to fetch between $7 million and $12 million when they go under the hammer at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels event on December 6 in New York, IDEX Online reports.
Dubbed the “California Sunset Diamonds,” both stones feature an oval mixed-cut, with the larger diamond holding a VVS2 clarity rating and the smaller one graded as VS1. Each earring has two additional white diamonds.
In other auction news, Sotheby’s Geneva announced it has raked in $46.5 million in its Magnificent Jewels auction, surpassing initial estimates. However, one of the anticipated highlights, a 94-carat Paraiba tourmaline, was unexpectedly withdrawn from the event without explanation. The standout of the 158-lot auction was the “Love Stone”, a 103.62-carat Fancy Intense Yellow diamond that raked in $2.48 million.
