CYNTHIA NIXON KEEPS IT STYLISH ON AND OFF THE RED CARPET

Cynthia Nixon – best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes, the most likable cast member on HBO’s hit series Sex and the City – began her acting career at the age of 13. She starred in an after school special which, oddly enough, led her to her Broadway debut a year later, in the 1980 revival of The Philadelphia Story. After a successful run as Miranda for six years, collecting three Emmy Award nominations and winning one in 2004, she came back to Broadway. Her starring role in the 2006 original production of Rabbit Hole won her a Tony Award. She also won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album in 2009.

Nixon’s personal life is every bit as interesting as her career: From 1988 to 2003, Nixon was in a relationship with schoolteacher Danny Mozes. In 2004, she began dating education activist Christine Marinoni, and the couple got engaged in 2009. They were married in New York City in 2012. Nixon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and she has been a breast cancer activist since.

At the 2012 Tony Awards, a month after their wedding, Nixon and Marinoni showed off their wedding rings on the red carpet. Nixon teamed her floor-length red dress with an understated diamond wedding ring. Her partner opted for a less flashy version, and wore a simple gold band.
