7.1-Carat Ruby Ring Sells for Millions in Monaco

A 7.105-carat pigeon blood ruby and diamond ring raked in $3.26 million at an auction held in Monaco – nearly 12 times above its initial high estimate, according to IDEX Online.

Crafted by renowned Paris jeweler Guillemin & Soulaine, the Burmese gemstone is set in an 18k yellow gold bague marguerite (daisy ring), and surrounded by ten old-cut diamonds, each weighing between 0.4 and 0.5 carats.

The ruby’s provenance was confirmed by the esteemed Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF), which described it as “Origin Burma, without heat treatment, with the mention ‘sang de pigeon’ (pigeon blood) and ‘vivid red color’.”
