US Watch and Jewelry Sales Grow Slightly in January 2024

The upward trajectory of watch and jewelry sales in the US saw a deceleration in January, following a resurgence in the final two months of 2023, IDEX Online reports.

The initial figures for 2024, released by the US Department of Commerce, reveal a modest year-on-year increase of 0.4%. While jewelry sales experienced a slight uptick of 0.6%, watch sales saw a very slight decline of 0.7%.

This comes after overall increases of 3.3% in November and a substantial 5.8% in December. Prior to this rebound, sales had been on a prolonged decline, with 13 consecutive months of decreasing figures spanning at least 18 months. In January, US imports of Swiss watches saw a 2.2% increase, totaling just under $370 million.
