Russian mining giant Alrosa is holding two auctions rough and polished diamonds in Vladivostok on September 6 and September 7. According to Alrosa’s press release, quoted by Diamond World, around 80 companies from around the world, including the US, China, India and Israel, are participating in the auction.
The auctions include “special size rough diamonds of 10.8+ ct. The company puts for sale 45 stones with total weight of 1,293 carats, the largest one weighs 75.75 carats”, says the report. Vice President Yury Okoyomov said: “Large rough diamonds weighing over 10.8-carats are solely sold at auctions and are always in great demand […] we have seen the interest of clients from Asia Pacific. This year we expect good results given a strong demand”.
Auctions of rough and polished diamonds in Vladivostok were launched in September 2016. All in all, 421.4 thousand carats of rough and polished diamonds were sold from September to December of 2016; in the first quarter of 2017, 440.4 thousand carats were sold.
