De Beers Global Sightholder Sales has announced the dates of its sales in 2018. According to IDEX Online, these are the date announced:
Sight 1: January 22 – 25; Sight 2: February 26 – March 2; Sight 3: April 9 – 13; Sight 4: May 14 – 18; Sight 5: June 18 – 21; Sight 6: July 23 – 27; Sight 7: September 3 – 7; Sight 8: October 8 – 12; Sight 9: November 12 – 16; Sight 10: December 10 – 13.
Last week, De Beers announced the value of its 9th rough diamond sales cycle for 2017. The cycle raked in $455 million, prompting CEO Bruce Cleaver to remark: “Following a seasonally quieter period for rough diamond sales, Cycle 9 saw an uptick in demand from our customers as retail orders increase ahead of the Christmas season”. In its third quarter production report published in late October, De Beers showed an increase of 46% in diamond production compared to the previous quarter. In volume, the miner produced 9.2 million carats.
