Following sanctions imposed by the US on Russian mining giant Alrosa, De Beers, its biggest rival, has issued a statement assuring retailers they could buy from them “with confidence,” IDEX Online reports.

Recently, US president Joe Biden issued an executive order that prohibits the import of rough gem-quality diamonds from Russia into the US.

In the statement, De Beers said that all its diamonds are mined in Botswana, Canada, Namibia or South Africa. “De Beers Group is committed to working with Sightholders to support the United States’ demand needs and to provide the origin and impact of every diamond we discover and sell,” it said.
