The increase in fancy color diamond prices has slowed to just 0.1% for the second consecutive quarter, according to the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF).
In the first quarter of 2024, blue diamonds of all sizes and intensities dropped by 0.4%, according to the New York-based FCRF’s May 21 quarterly update. Yellow diamonds decreased by 0.1%, while pink diamonds showed a slight increase of 0.2%. Fancy vivid diamonds (all colors) rose by 0.4%, fancy intense diamonds edged up by 0.1%, while other fancy diamonds fell by 0.7%.
According to the FCRF, the market demonstrated “overall stability with minor pricing changes.
David Shara, an FCRF data supplier, commented: “Seeing the fluctuations of most financial markets and the underperformance of colorless diamonds, it’s reassuring to witness colored diamonds as an island of stability in this financial climate.”
