GADDAFI’S US$10 MILLION DIAMOND STUDDED DAGGER SEIZED BY POLICE

Police in Turkey have seized an ornamental ivory dagger, studded with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emerald, which used to belong to former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, according to local news reports.

The dagger, which was allegedly looted from a Gaddafi palace a number of years ago, was recovered during an anti-smuggling operation in which three people were arrested. One of those arrested include a Turk who reportedly purchased the dagger for nearly US$5 million a few months ago, according to reports. Police suspect he planned to sell the dagger for US$10 million to a Saudi businessman.
