India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) are working towards setting delivery standards for the gold and diamond trade, the CEO of DMCC, Gautam Sashittal, said.
“We are in constant consultation with the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the Ministry of Commerce to help set up the good delivery standards as we have done with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) framework”, Sashittal is quoted as saying in Diamond World. He added: “Surat-based industry refines our diamonds while India is one of our largest gold jewelry markets. These are all the reasons for us to build ongoing business synergies with India”.
Back in September, GJEPC and the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) have announced a contribution of $2 million to the DPA, in order to promote its effort to market diamonds in India.
