16kg of gold jewelry stolen from a jewelry store in Vellore, in the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India, was recovered by police in a burial ground, IDEX Online reports.

The daring heist took ten days to complete as the suspect, now apprehended, used a technique he learned from YouTube videos to slowly drill a hole through the wall of the Jos Alukkas jewelry store. He was arrested five days later, on December 20, after officers scoured “almost 200 CCTV recordings.”

According to police, the suspect wanted to “melt down the gold – worth $1.3m – after retrieving it from a burial ground in Odukathur.”
