Indian actress Priyanka Chopra stunned in a 200-carat diamond choker valued at $43 million during Bulgari’s 140th anniversary event, IDEX Online reports.
Chopra, 42, is a global brand ambassador for the Rome-based luxury fashion and jewelry house. She won Miss World in 2000 and is now one of India’s highest-paid actresses.
The Serpenti Aeterna necklace features seven D-color diamond drops totaling 140 carats—one for each year of Bulgari’s history—along with 698 baguette diamonds weighing 61.81 carats.
“This incredible piece required over 2,800 hours to complete and stuns with its absolute purity conveyed through diamonds,” said Bulgari.
In other high-profile jewelry news, a platinum and gold Cartier “India” tutti frutti necklace sold for $8.7 million at Christie’s Hong Kong, far exceeding its high estimate of $4.9 million. Christie’s reported that the necklace sold “after over 10 minutes of competitive bidding,” with the original estimate ranging from $3.6 million to $4.9 million.
The necklace was the highlight of the recent Magnificent Jewels sale, which totaled $61 million and achieved a 127% hammer price against presale estimates. More than half the lots sold above their high estimates, according to IDEX Online.
