SARINE SUES ROSE GEMS OVER “FRAUDULENT USE” OF GALAXY DEVICE

Israel-based Sarine Technologies has filed a lawsuit against Rose Gems, a Surat-based diamond manufacturer for “breach of contract and fraudulent use of its Galaxy® inclusion mapping technology and systems”, according to Sarine.

In the suit, which was filed on February 12 in the Vadodara Commercial Court in Surat, Sarine claims that Rose Gems under-reported the weight of rough stones scanned by Sarine’s Galaxy system via “illegal manipulation of its software”. The lawsuit demands damages of $750,000 and alleges breach of contract and copyright infringement.

David Block, CEO of Sarine Group, said: “The Sarine Group will continue to pursue any party that attempts to violate our intellectual property or to abuse our systems. We have adopted a zero-tolerance approach to unlawful use of our technologies, and will continue to invest every resource necessary to bring the full brunt of the law as well as other channels to enforce Sarine’s rights”.
