Good news for miner Stornoway Diamond Corporation: according to Rough & Polished, Stornoway will formally declare commercial production on January 1, 2017, after announcing that it has reached commercial production phase at its Renard diamond mine in Canada.
In an announcement made earlier this week, Stornoway reported that the average processing rate of 60% was accomplished over a 30 day period on December 3, representing 4,120 tonnes per day compared with the expected capacity of 6,000 tonnes per day.
Now, the company expects to continue the ramp-up of the process plant to full production over the next two quarters. Matt Manson, President and CEO of Stornoway, stated that the “production ramp-up continues, with three diamond sales scheduled for the first quarter of 2017”.
