TWIN BLUE DIAMONDS RAKED IN $6.7 MILLION AT CHRISTIE’S

Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels auction, held on April 16, saw a Twin-Stone Fancy Vivid Blue Diamond Ring of 3.06 and 2.61 carats sell for $6,744,500 ($1.2 million per carat) to a private collector.

A Marquise-cut Diamond Ring of 16.69 carats from the Collection of Elizabeth Stafford – a D color, Type IIa, potentially internally flawless stone, sold for $1.5 million. A Fancy Pink Diamond Ring of 6.11 carats fetched $1.4 million ($230,000 per carat).

The sale will also included private collections with signed diamond, ruby, and sapphire pieces by Bulgari, Cartier, Harry Winston, Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels. All in all, the auction put to sale over 285 lots. Christie’s sold 86% of the lots for a total of $30,315,875.
