US Customs Confiscates $3 Million in Fake Chinese Jewelry

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Cincinnati, Ohio, recently seized a $3 million shipment of fake Chinese goods – mostly jewelry and scarves – labeled as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Cartier, Hermes, Versace and Chanel, IDEX Online reports.

Fake bracelets, rings, and earrings were among the fakes. In total, 1830 counterfeit items destined for a private home in Flushing, New York, were seized. According to LaFonda Sutton-Burke of the CBP, the goods raised the officers’ suspicions because of “the packaging and the poor quality of the material”.

He added: “In addition to the impact on businesses and the economy, purchasing counterfeit goods carry harmful risks to shoppers. It is vital that consumers be aware of what they are purchasing and know the dangers that may be involved.”
